Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)
Boost your teaching career with the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector – this qualification will help you work towards achieving Qualified Teacher, Learning & Skills (QTLS) status. The DTLLS course is delivered over 12 months and comprises face-to-face training days, 1:1 tutorials, workplace assessment, individual research, distance learning and the completion of 8 assignments.
The training days are highly interactive, face-to-face sessions. They are built around key themes that address the course content, prompt reflective practice and provide an opportunity to share good practice with others. The course is assessed by 8 unit assignments, an ongoing reflective journal and a teaching practice portfolio. You will have to evidence 150 hours of teaching and will be observed 8 times. All coursework must be submitted to negotiated deadlines.
This course builds on the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector the course is in three stages, the DTLLS course is integrated merger with Level 4 and 5
- Part 1 PTLLS,
- Part 2 CTLLS
- Part 3 DTLLS
To join the DTLLS stage you must have PTLLS/CTLLS or its equivalent, or undertake one concurrently.
DTLLS is the qualification required for teachers/tutors and assessors who work in the lifelong learning sector in a ‘full teaching’ role, and leads to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS). On achievement of the DTLLS qualification, Professional Formation can be applied for via IfL which grants Licenced Practitioner Status.
Duration: Full Time 9-12 Months – Part Time 12-18 Months
Fees:
- UK Students: £ 2,950 per annum.
- International Students: £4500 per annum
Entry Requirements:
- 4 GCSEs and 2 GCE A Levels with industry experience in education sector
- B-Tec Level 3 in education or any relevant subjects and industrial experience
- International Students CEFR B1 Level English proficiency with higher school leaving certificate and industry experience
Course Contents:
ESOL International Diploma (City & Guilds) Progression
Students will be offered pre-sessional ESOL international diploma progression to Diploma in Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS)
Assessment
Assessment is by means of courseware, assignments, projects and tests and 150 hours of teaching practice. The assessment is done by internal staff and is subject to external verification. Please refer to the course handbook for details about assessments.
Completion of year 1 will give you Qualified Teacher Learning Status (QTLS)and progress to a specialised in area of their choice.
Pathway Specialist Teaching Optional Modules:
Students may select any of the specialist modules depending on their background as a specialist qualification. The college offers Teaching Training with specialising modules Accountancy, Business Administration, Business Law, Fashion, Information Technology, Interactive Media Studies, Tourism or Teacher Training at level 7 Postgraduate Diploma.
