Higher Professional Diploma in Photo Imaging – Foundation Degree (Level 4)

Learn essential and specialist photography and business skills with the Higher Professional Diploma in Photo Imaging.For a Diploma in Photo Imaging you’ll ideally be working in photography or have access to a work experience setting.The qualification is designed for anyone who’s serious about a career in things like:- Photography general - fashion photography- portraiture- laboratory management- video production.

There are 6 mandatory units:

  1. Photographic image creation
  2. Image management (either film recording and darkroom processes or digital recording and electronic manipulation)
  3. Visual studies and photographic techniques
  4. Business planning for photo imaging (double unit)
  5. Photographic design and reproduction.

You select 2 optional units from:

  • Scientific and photographic technical imaging
  • Photographic studio imaging
  • Photographic location imaging
  • Photographic aerial imaging
  • Underwater photography
  • Quality management in photographic laboratories
  • Interactive media design production
  • Moving image production (video).

You also select 4 units from:

  • Photographic fine art imaging
  • Photography for advertising
  • Fashion photography
  • Editorial, press and public relations photography
  • Portraiture and social photography
  • Corporate (industrial and commercial) photography
  • Photographic laboratory management
  • Specialist darkroom practices
  • Contextual studies in photo imaging
  • Assessment and training in photography businesses
  • Specialist photographic applications for scientific researchPersonal and professional development.
International Students:
All international students are required to have a minimum of B1 or B2 level of English as per the CEFR. The new UKBA rules which have come into effect from 21st April 2011 for English Language requirements.
