These qualifications are suitable for people at all levels, from people who aim to work in the industry to highly skilled professionals. Four qualifications are available – introductory certificate, consultant, supervisory and management – covering the use of information technology, travel locations, travel support services, ancillary travel services, discounted air fares, business travel itineraries and effective working relationships in business travel. This qualification is validated by City & Guilds.

Higher Professional Diploma in Travel and Tourism HLQ 4 (Year 1)

This Higher Professional Diploma is suitable for people who are aspiring to, or seeking recognition of, a management role within the travel and tourism industry. Candidates can choose from a wide range of contexts.

Students may use this pathway for year 3 Honors Degree at Universities or follow the alternative route can proceed to Higher Diploma/BA or alternatively students with experience can use progression pathway for level 7 leading to Masters Degree.

Duration 1 Year (HPD), Year 2 (Business Travel vocational diploma)
Mode: Full-Time (36 – 40 weeks per academic year)
Fees:

  • UK Students: £2,950 per annum.
  • International Students: £4,950 per academic year and registration or examination fees of the awarding body

Entry Requirement:

  • 4 GCSEs with 2 GCE A Level
  • B.TEC Level 3 or 4
  • Mature Students over the age of 21 with relevant experience or professional qualification may be accepted at the digression of the admission officer
  • International qualification Higher School leaving certificate (intermediate)
  • All international students are required to have a minimum of CEFR B1 or B2 level of English

  • Financial management
  • Marketing and sales management in travel and tourism And then choose seven further units from:
  • Environmental issues in travel and tourism
  • Managing travel and tourism operations
  • Managing IT systems for travel and tourism
  • Leisure travel
  • Business travel
  • Transportation
  • Conference and event
  • Visitor attractions
  • Recruitment and selection of travel and tourism staff
  • Personal and professional development

On completion of 1st year students will be awarded HPD

 (Year 2)

Business Travel – Vocational Level 4 & 5

These qualifications are suitable for people at all levels, from people who aim to work in the industry to highly skilled professionals. Four qualifications are available – introductory certificate, consultant, supervisory and management – covering the use of information technology, travel locations, travel support services, ancillary travel services, discounted air fares, business travel itineraries and effective working relationships in business travel. This qualification is validated by City & Guilds.

  • The Consultant Certificate in Business Travel qualification is aimed at those with a minimum of one year’s experience in the industry.  It provides candidates with a more detailed knowledge of the business travel sector.
  • The Supervisory Certificate in Business Travel aims to develop candidates’ skills so they are prepared for a supervisory position in the industry. The course covers supervisory skills, business practices and business administration.
  • The Management Certificate in Business Travel is aimed at those who are about to have, or who have a management role in the industry. The course covers three main areas including staff management, financial/operations management and developing business accounts.
Progression: 
HPDs can also form the first year of a Foundation Degree. Pathway to other higher qualification or Year 2 – Business Travel Vocational Level 5 (2nd year of Hons Degree)
