Higher Professional Diploma in Health & Wellbeing
This QCA-approved qualification is designed for those working in support roles within the health care sector, such as, (senior) health care assistants, who are aspiring to ‘Assistant Practitioner’ level of the NHS career band structure. It links with relevant ‘core’ and ‘specific dimensions’ of the NHS Knowledge and Skills Framework, including communication, personal and people development, health, safety and security, and equality and diversity. Assessment is by means of assignment. The HPD could form the first part (120 credits) of a related Foundation or Honours Degree programme. Candidates could also progress to the Level 7 Master Professional Diploma in Strategy & Development which can be achieved in a health and well-being context.
Level QCF 4 & 5
Duration 18 months to 24 months
Mode: Full-Time (36 – 40 weeks per academic year)
Fees:
- UK Students: £2,950 per annum.
- International Students: £4,950 per academic year and registration or examination fees of the awarding body
Entry Requirement:
- BTEC level 3
- Students with extensive business experience may be admitted without the formal requirements
- 4 GCSEs with 1 GCE A Level
- International qualification Higher School leaving certificate (intermediate) or equivalent with CEFR B1 Level ESOL/IELTS
- Mature students over the age of 21 with no formal qualification but experience and another qualifications may be admitted at the digression of the admission tutor
- All international students are required to have CEFR B1 or B2 level of English.
Pathway
How can the qualification be used?
The qualification and the units within them can be used in a variety of ways:
- For personal development, to improve and build on core knowledge, understanding and skills underpinning a job role
- To gain a qualification that recognises higher level learning in health care provision
- For career progression. The HPD can be used to develop knowledge and understanding about aspects of a health care role, even before occupying that role formally. While competence in a job can only be assessed once in the job itself, it is possible to learn about, and be assessed on, aspects of the role beforehand
- To promote access to other career qualifications. Each unit within the HPD has been designed to equate to 10 CATS points at HE level 1. This means that the full HPD is equivalent to the first year of a related foundation or honours degree, or equivalent (120 CATS)

Progression:
The HPD level 4 gives you 120 credits of a related Foundation or Honours Degree programme. HPD Level 5 gives you further 120 credits total 240 credits for 2 years foundation degree. Candidates could also progress to the Level 7 Master Professional Diploma in Strategy & Development which can be achieved in a health and well-being context. This HPD/Level 4 & 5 (City & Guild QCF) is designed for those working in support roles within the health care sector, such as, (senior) health care assistants, who are aspiring to ‘Assistant Practitioner’ level of the NHS career band structure.

Higher Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services
Show that you have the skills needed to keep a care-provision organisation running smoothly with the Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services. This 2-3 year qualification gives you the opportunity to build both your managerial and care skills, allowing you to help more people. It also fulfils the regulatory requirement for those looking to become managers of children’s homes or adult residential and domiciliary services.
Level QCF 5
Duration 1 year Full-time and 2 years Part-time
Mode: Full-Time (36 – 40 weeks per academic year)
Fees:

- BTEC Level 4 Qualification or any associate diplomas
- International Qualification, Higher School leaving certificate (intermediate)
- Mature students over the age of 21 with no formal qualification but experience and another qualifications may be admitted at the digression of the admission tutor
- All international students are required to have CEFR B1 or B2 level of English.
You will choose 1 of the following 6 pathways:
- Children and Young People’s Residential Management
- Children and Young People’s Management
- Children and Young People’s Advanced Practice
- Adults’ Residential Management
- Adults’ Management
- Adults’ Advanced Practice
All the pathways share 5 core units:
- Use and develop systems that promote communication
- Promote professional development
- Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
- Develop health and safety and risk management policies procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people’s settings
- Working in partnership in health and social care, and children and young people’s settings.
For each pathway, you will also need to complete a certain number of optional units. Examples of available units include:
- Lead person-centred practice
- Support individuals at the end of life
- Manage finance in a health and social care or children and young people’s setting
- Explore models of disability
- Understand the needs of children who are vulnerable and experiencing poverty and disadvantageIdentify and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance misuser.
Progression:
Build both your managerial and care skills with the Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services. On completion of this qualification the student may use the pathway route progression to final year at university for BA/BSc degree or can use this qualification for entry to MA in Health Care or seek employment in health care industry
