B-TEC Higher National Certificate in Interactive Media Level 4

The BTEC Higher National Diploma in Interactive Media provides opportunities for learners to apply their knowledge and practical skills in the workplace. Full-time learners have the opportunity to do this through formal work placements or their part-time employment experience. The qualification prepares learners for employment in the interactive media sector and will be suitable for learners who have already decided that they wish to enter this area of work. Some adult learners may wish to make the commitment required by this qualification in order to enter a specialist area of employment in interactive media or progress into higher education. Other learners may want to extend the specialism that they followed on the BTEC Higher National Certificate programme. Progression from this qualification may well be into or within employment in the interactive media sector.

The BTEC Higher National Diploma in Interactive Media mainly offers a progression route for learners who are studying a Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art and Design), a National Diploma in Design or a National Diploma in Art and Design and equivalent to any foundation degree.

Learners studying on the BTEC Higher National Diploma will be able to either gain employment in the interactive media sector or continue their pathway studies at BA/BSc 1 year or MA at certain universities.

Entry Requirement Qualifications and/or experience held by applicants, considering whether this profile shows an ability to progress to a Level 5 qualification. For learners who have recently been in education, the entry profile is likely to include one of the following:

  • A BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Design or Art and Design An AVCE/Advanced GNVQ in an appropriate vocational area
  • A GCE Advanced level profile which demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more than one GCE subject.
  • This profile is likely to be supported by GCSE grades at A* to C
  • Other related Level 3 qualificationsAn Access to Higher Education Certificate awarded by an approved further education institution from UK or International Institute. (i.e. Pakistan, Indian sub continent Intermediate or FA/FSc)
  • Related work experience.
  • Applicant may be considered without the above formal qualification who has related experience.

The 16-unit BTEC Higher National Diploma (Foundation Degree Level) provides greater breadth and specialisation than the BTEC Higher National Certificate. Higher National Diplomas are mode free but are followed predominately by full-time learners. They allow progression into or within employment in the interactive media sector, either directly on achieving of the award or following further study to degree level.

Fees:

  • UK Students: £ 2950 per annum. The students can apply for local funding or loans and should refer to the various options available at http://mchemt.com/admissions/scholarship-funding
  • International Students: £4950 per academic year and registration or examination fees of the awarding body
  • Minimum £3000 has to be paid for the issue of CAS letter from the admissions office.

  • 4 GCSEs with 1 GCE A Level
  • Level 3 Qualification or any associate diplomas in engineering or IT
  • Overseas qualification Higher School leaving certificate (intermediate)
  • Mature students over the age of 21 with no formal qualification but experience and another qualifications may be admitted at the discretion of the admission tutor
International Students:
All international students are required to have a minimum of B1 or B2 level of English as per the CEFR. The new UKBA rules which have come into effect from 21st April 2011 for English Language requirements.

B-TEC Higher National Diploma in Interactive Media

On completion of 2 years HND Students can use the pathway for a progression to final year of the BSc degree or alternatively proceed to post graduate diploma Level 7.

English Language requirement

  • B2 in each of the four disciplines is the appropriate level for those coming to study at level 6 (undergraduate) and above.
  • B1 is the appropriate level for lower courses, including the Pathways.
  • In order to get a visa, those outside of universities will have to present a test certificate form
  • MCHEMT is an independent test provider, please refer to ESOL qualifications page on our website.
  • UK Border Agency Officers will be able to refuse a migrant who cannot speak without an interpreter.

The B-TEC Higher National Diploma programme must contain a minimum of eight units designated at H2 level.

  • At level 4 the emphasis is on the application of knowledge, skills and understanding, use of conventions in the field of study, use of analytical skills and selection and organisation of information.
  • At level 5 the emphasis is on application and evaluation of contrasting ideas, principles, theories and practices, greater specialisation in the field of study, and an increasing independence in systematic enquiry and analysis.

Learners studying for BTEC Higher Nationals in Interactive Media will be expected to develop the following skills during the programme of study:synthesis of a range of concepts, knowledge and skills relating to interactive media application of complex theories to practical realistic work situations in the interactive media sector independence of approach to study and the generation of interactive media evidence ability to engage with complex and/or unpredictable situations in interactive media contexts ability to take responsibility to manage and direct their own and others activities insight and judgment in relation to the margins and consequences of error research and investigative skills-responsive to change and ability to multitask-ability to innovate and work in a creative way.

Students will gain practical training with our partner Digital Media Television Network on various aspects of media including digital production, post production, audio, satellite technology, fiber optics, editing, direction, short film making etc.

A graduate diploma in Information Technology and Computer Science vocational based. The core technical elements of the course will develop practical skills in installing, troubleshooting and operating systems and hardware. Working with laptops, notebooks and PDAs and working with internet applications.

Graduation diploma is a 2 years full time and 3 years part time course. Students may use the progression route for BSc degree at the universities or alternatively accreditation is being sought for the honours degree from the British Computer Society (BCS) which would mean that you would gain exemptions from part1 and part 2 of the Society’s Professional Examinations.

This graduate diploma is specially designed by MCHEMT as a extensive study and vocational training programme for students who wishes to specialise in information technology with developing computer systems. On completion of this course we award the graduate diploma which equalaint to any Honours degree in UK or student can use our progression route by taking a short study course at  universities where student may be awarded BSc. Alternatively, student may use progression route to master’s diploma in IT

Graduate Diploma in Interactive Media

2 Years Full-Time  This award is by Manchester College of Higher Education and Media Technology
  • QCF Level 6  (Graduate Diploma is an Integrated Diploma created through the merger of levels 4, 5 and 6)

Assessment

Assessment is by means of courseware, assignments, projects and tests. The assessment is done by internal staff and is subject to external verification. Please refer to the course handbook for details about assessments.

Progression Route
Candidates that successfully complete the Graduate Diploma in Interactive Media can progress to a higher level course.
